Order of the Legion of Honour
Established in 1802 by Napoleon Bonaparte, the Legion of Honour is the highest French decoration and is awarded for “eminent merits” to the nation. The order consists of three ranks – Knight, Officer, Commander – and two honours: Grand Officer and Grand Cross. As the long-standing official manufacturer of decorations for the Legion of Honour, Maison Arthus Bertrand still crafts these prestigious awards and their related insignia today.
